Mr. Duncan serves on the board of of the International Civil Rights Center and Museum; is a peer review team captain for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and also serves on the peer review committee of the North Carolina Association of CPA’s. He is an active member of Gate City Baptist Church, where he has served on the finance committee.

W. Barth Ashe, CPA
Role: Partner
Mr. Ashe is an accounting and audit practitioner, with 20 years experience providing services to a variety of businesses and organizations. He has extensive experience with not-for-profit organizations, construction contractors and HUD-assisted entities, among others.

Will Lavasque
Role: Partner
Duncan Ashe’s newest Partner and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and native to the area, Will has over 10 years of experience in public accounting. Proficient in many different accounting softwares, Will enjoys helping clients navigate their software while maintaining a focus on their appropriate accounting needs. He also works with clients in tax preparation for individual, business, and not-for-profit entities.

Role: Retired Partner
Mrs. Matthews has over thirty years experience providing administrative, controller and accounting services to a variety of businesses and organizations.

Seth Anderson, CPA
Role: Tax Manager
Mr. Anderson is one of our managerial accountants, focusing primarily on tax compliance and research. He enjoys helping individuals, businesses, and not-for-profit entities navigate the complexities of federal and state tax law.

Role: Audit Manager
As a manager of our audit team, Mrs. Ebert has worked in nearly every audit that Duncan Ashe has performed since her start with our firm. Ginny has a combined 30 years in finance and accounting in New York City & North Carolina.

Melinda Payne
Role: Project Coordinator
Melinda graduated from Guilford Tech Community College with a focus in Office Healthcare Management. An integral part of the office, Melinda is the project coordinator on a vast majority of Duncan Ashe engagements, and is always reliable in answering or directing client questions to appropriate channels.
Melinda has over 15 years of accounting experience behind her and regularly deals in tax preparation with our tax team.
Melinda’s pride and joy are her two grandchildren, Knox and Nash.
Chuck Long, CPA
Role: Staff Accountant, Tax Return Reviewer
Chuck is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in both Georgia and North Carolina. He has been in public practice over 35 years with an emphasis on the taxation of small businesses and their owners.

Ellie Barker
Role: Staff Accountant
Ellie has been with us since September 2020. In her role here at Duncan Ashe, she serves as a bookkeeper for small businesses and a not-for-profit tax preparer.
She graduated from Appalachian State University with a BA in Professional Writing. She was a part of the young professionals’ development program which led her to Duncan Ashe and is an active member of Friendly Hills Church in Jamestown volunteers in the nursery Sunday nights.
In her free time, she likes to read, binge Netflix, and solve puzzles.

Tyler Evans
Role: Staff Accountant
Starting with us as a staff accountant in June of 2022, Tyler graduated from Virginia State University with a Bachelor’s degree focused in accounting. Before this, Tyler had time volunteering as a tax preparer, earning the experience he needed for his role here at Duncan Ashe.
Tyler is one of our most proficient staff auditors with occasional experience dealing with tax returns during busy season.
A lover of sports and a high school football player, Tyler enjoys traveling with his girlfriend and watching sports in his free time.
Julian Passmore
Role: Staff Accountant
Starting with Duncan Ashe right after graduating with his Bachelor’s of Accounting in May of 2023, Julian is one of our newest additions to the Duncan Ashe team. Before working with Duncan Ashe, he had extensive experience with Excel, qualifying to be Excel Expert certified before graduation.
Julian works with the audit team as a staff auditor, dealing primarily with the audit of non-profit entities. He is currently studying to become a CPA and has taken one exam so far.
Julian enjoys playing video games and working out in his free time.

Nora Fitzgerald
Role: Staff Accountant
Our newest hire at Duncan Ashe, Nora has over 10 years of accounting, client relations, and administrative experience. She graduated from the University of North Carolina in Greensboro with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting magna cum laude. Since her graduation, she’s worked with many clients and gained different branches of accounting experience that have helped her excel in her profession.
Beginning with Duncan Ashe in September of 2023, Nora’s familiarity has to do with taxation accounting and as such, she primarily deals with individual and business tax in her role with us.
Brooke Anders
Role: Staff Accountant
Brooke has been with Duncan Ashe since June of 2022. Graduating from Mary Baldwin University with a bachelor’s in business management, focused in accounting, Brooke is a regular part of both our tax and audit teams, dealing with whatever issues arise for her that day.
Brooke received much of her experience before working at Duncan Ashe volunteering to help lower income families file their tax returns using her skills acquired from University.
As a former college basketball athlete, Brooke spends her non-accounting time hanging out with friends and watching sports.
